Dear Colleagues,
ISASS held its inagural Basic and Advanced Endoscopic and ASC-MIS Spine Surgery Cadaver Training Course in Phoenix, AZ, USA from September 11-14, 2014.
Co-Chairs: Anthony Yeung, MD and James J Yue, MD
Thanks to the dedication of the international faculty under the direction of course co-chairs James Yue, MD and Anthony Yeung, MD, the September ISASS course and cadaver lab was a success. Although the cadaver lab slots were filled early, we were able to accommodate all requests by adding observation-only attendees. Based on the attendee responses, evaluations and comments shared, we know that further courses like this are desired by spine surgeons. Planning for future courses is underway. The next ISASS course and lab are being held in January 2015, so save the date:
ISASS Navigating Controversies in Spine Surgery, Pediatric Scoliosis and Adult Deformity
Dates: Friday, January 16 through Sunday, January 18, 2015
Location: Oquendo Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Further details for the January 2015 course and lab will be provided as soon as possible.

September course Co-Chairs James Yue, MD and Anthony Yeung, MD want to share the following:
“The course afforded both attendee and faculty member an opportunity to investigate and learn from one another in a truly hands on and interactive course environment. Outstanding learning experience! ”
James J. Yue, MD – Yale University“This cadaver workshop was unique for the quality of the faculty and MIS Spine techniques and equipment that they helped develop. The workshop opened the door to innovative procedures that will become mainstream world-wide, which places emphasis on surgical competence, using implants when needed to fit the least invasive goals of MIS spine surgery. ”
Anthony Yeung, MD – Desert Institute of Spine CareAttendees shared the following:
“I appreciate the pains taken by you & your team to organise the excellent event. I’m sure it must have taken months of hard work. Please convey my regards to all your colleagues.”
Milind Gandhi, MD – CIMETs Inamdar Multispeciality Hospital“Thank you very much for the opportunity to learn from you. Found out how little my knowledge is. Would very much like to join your society and learn. [I am] in the process of changing my practice.”
